Outstanding articles beautifully presented. Unfortunately as often as not the links are broken, and tapping on one article takes you somewhere else. I end up using this to identify articles, then I find them and save them to Pocket. Please fix this!
Flakiest app I have ever used. I had to reinstall it almost every day for months to get articles. And usually it was worth the effort. Within the past week it appears to be back to working normally. Thank you!
Does one thing exceptionally well--surfacing the most interesting long journalism pieces. Great job!
I used to love this app, but the "Popular" tabs stopped updating about 2 months ago.
This app hasnt been updated since November, 2015, and it shows. Articles dont update; have to close and re-open app several times to update content. Links on the "Following" page link to wrong journals. Used to be great but no support. And strangely all the posts about this that were previously searchable on Google have been buried. Disappointing.
It would be really great if Longform fixed the crashing issue. Longform has crashed repeatedly since the dawn of time/apps. Fix it already! Ive been a user on again off again for 3 years. I leave because of the crashing but return because Im hoping to use it. You know it crashes, Jesus must we spell it out for you too. I T C R A S H E S! ! ! !
Fantastic collection of in-depth journalism but the app is awful. It crashes and wont load, horrible interface.
...Still systematically crashing. This used to be a great app. Now even the support brings you to an Error 404 page. Time to get serious, this is not a free app.
Utter garbage. Simply blocks and will not load the welcolme page.
No new news. Cant hide left side. You have to scroll down n down n down. Business week showing news from 29 march on April 22.
An awesome app for people who like reading, works perfect. But reading sources are not extensive, I wish the developer can add more in the future.
This is simply one of the best apps out there if you are interested in in-depth articles on a wide variety of topics. Thesis an app I check every day.
This is a great, clean app, that pulls in feeds from Longform, as well as many other great sites, like Slate and Aeon. You can quickly save to Instapaper, Pocket, etc., but not to Evernote. You can, of course, use the email button to send any article to your Evernote address, but better Evernote integration would make this a five-star app.
For every ounce of quality journalism online theres a pound of crap thats too shallow and too focused on condensing to 140 characters. The world is much more complex than that and there are some of us who want a more thoughtful analysis of the whats going on. What I love about Longform is its a great way to find quality journalism without sifting through it all yourself. Though Id been aware of Longform previously I didnt know they had an app. This one is very well made, nicely laid out and intuitive to navigate (based on previous reviews it would se that it took them to 2.0 to figure this out). If youre Interested in detailed articles about the world — some of which will challenge your current opinions — then get this app.
I purchased this app a while ago for a few dollars more than it costs now, and I feel no regret. Access to the top periodicals with no subscription, plus more amazing content than you could read in a lifetime.
Design - 5 Content - 5 Function - 5 This app has it all. Slick design with loads and loads of content. 4 easy tabs at the bottom trigger between Exploring sources, popular articles, bookmarks and staff favourites. Sharing extension enabled in iOS 8 and this app has it all!
The latest Longform update has made what was a simple and elegant app into a fussy, complicated one. Too bad. The update also cancels the link to Readability. Accordingly, Longform has seen the last of me.
The iPhone app is fairly easy to navigate, features a wide variety of newspapers, magazines, websites and authors to check out and follow. No ads (so far) is a bonus. Easy to save articles to Pocket, Readability and Instapaper for later perusal. It (the app) is a bit cluttered and the process of selecting and following etc. could be streamlined, but these are relatively minor issues.
The new app look caused me a lot of grief initially but this weeks update to fix the known bugs is great. Works as promised, bugs gone, and one thing has always been consistent - good content.
